Today, on December 20th, the Mamã Madalena Shelter and the Innovation and Development Center for Inclusion in the Urban Districts of Cazenga and Benfica received a donation of essential items, such as perishable and non-perishable food, clothing, beds, and toys, as part of a social responsibility effort by MINEA. This act of solidarity aimed to foster camaraderie and support for the underprivileged children in these centers, as part of the festive spirit of the year 2023.
The Mamã Madalena Shelter, which currently provides a home for approximately 90 children, was among the first beneficiaries of this philanthropic gesture. Established by Mamã Madalena Catué on May 15th, 2021, the shelter comprises 7 dormitories (some still under construction), a kitchen, two bathrooms, a school offering education from 1st to 9th grade, a playground, and a recreation room. Situated in the Cazenga district in the Kima Kieza area, the Mamã Madalena shelter welcomes youngsters from diverse regions of Angola.
Following this, attention turned to the Innovation and Development Center for Inclusion in the urban district of Benfica, which currently supports 115 beneficiaries. This facility boasts 3 literacy classrooms, an arts and drawing room, a computer room, facilities for kitchen and table assistant training, a hairdressing training room, a room for family psychological support, as well as occupational therapy, speech therapy, and behavioral therapy services.
The event was graced by the presence of His Excellency Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, CEO of ENDE, Eng. Hélder de Jesus Garcia Adão, officials from MINEA, and representatives from companies that generously supported this noble cause, including CMEC, CR20, HUANTONG, ANGOLA INDUSTRY, DAR ANGOLA, José e Rode, Ossiyeto, Seth e Lis, Sinohydro, Odebrecht, MCA, Dar Angola, CGGC, and ELECNOR.
